Creating a guest list is one of the first things you need to do when planning your event

Your guest list is one of the first and foremost important things to do when planning an event – regardless of whether that is your wedding, a corporate party or simply a special birthday or anniversary.

And yet, while it may seem easy to simply add some people to a list, things can get quite complicated along the way – especially if you have a limited budget and if you have to keep multiple people happy with the list itself.

How to do it? How to plan a guest list the right way? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

·         First of all, consider those who are helping you financially. For example, if you are planning your wedding and your parents are helping you with money, you should establish with them from the very beginning what their expectations are with regards to the guest list. This will set things straight from the start, so that everything moves smoother further on.

·         Think of an ideal guest list. This includes all the people you have always imagined to invite at this event – be it corporate party or your 10-year marriage anniversary. You might have to trim down this list later on, but it is a very good place to start with.

·         Establish the criteria. Take the people involved in the event planning and discuss with them what the elimination criteria should be for this guest list. For instance, you might want to eliminate people with whom you haven’t communicated in a long time, or simply plus-ones. It all depends on your budget and venue, so be careful with the criteria you select and make sure to stick to them throughout the entire planning process.
