Edward Grigassy

Edward Grigassy is a highly accomplished guitarist, educator, and bandleader based in Houston, Texas, whose career exemplifies a deep commitment to the art of guitar performance and education. With a foundation in classical guitar, honed under the tutelage of virtuosos like Adam Holzman and Eliot Fisk, Grigassy has earned both a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. His expertise extends beyond classical traditions, encompassing jazz guitar studies with the legendary Gene Bertoncini and a profound appreciation for Latin American styles such as Bolero, Bossa Nova, and Argentine Tango. As an instructor for Bellaire High School’s guitar program, Grigassy has cultivated a new generation of musicians, guiding students to excel in recitals and competitions while fostering a lifelong passion for music.

In addition to his role as an educator, Grigassy is an active performer and organizer, sharing his artistry through solo recitals, the Carnaval Guitar Duo, and larger ensembles across the United States and Central America. He leads two dynamic groups, the Old School Swing Band and Latin Carnaval, each specializing in vibrant, danceable music that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Americas. Beyond the stage, Grigassy has played a pivotal role in the guitar community, co-organizing prestigious events such as the Summer Guitar Conservatory and the Houston ISD Guitar Festival. His dedication to collaboration and musical exploration has made him a respected figure in the world of guitar, inspiring audiences and students alike with his technical mastery, stylistic versatility, and unwavering enthusiasm for the instrument.
