How to Judge a Wedding Band Video
Most couples choose a wedding band from videos. That works well if you know what you are watching for, because a polished promo and a real wedding are not the same evening.
Every act on the Avalon roster has HD video demos and audio samples on the Look and Listen page, and many were filmed at real weddings and events.

Seven Things to Watch For
- Real event footage. Guests, a dance floor and a real room tell you more than a studio shoot.
- The singers. Listen for the vocalists who will sing your first dance and your party songs.
- Range. Does the band move between eras and genres the way your guests will want?
- Transitions. The best bands go from song to song without the floor emptying.
- The MC. Someone will announce your entrance, the toasts and the cake. Listen to how they speak.
- The crowd. Are guests of every age dancing, or only one age group?
- The lineup. Ask whether the musicians in the video are the ones who will play your wedding.
Then Read the Song List
Each act page carries a song list. Look for your must-play songs and the genres your families love. Bands learn and rehearse requests, with exceptions when a song does not fit the instrumentation, so the list shows what a band does best rather than everything it can play.
Narrow It to Three
Watch together, save the acts you both like, and send the shortlist with your date. The coordinator will tell you which are free and recommend others like them if one is not.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we see a band perform before booking?
Yes. The Look and Listen page has HD video demos and audio samples from every band on the roster, and many videos were filmed at real weddings and events.
Will the band learn our first dance song?
In most cases, yes. Bands learn and rehearse your requests, with exceptions if a song does not fit the instrumentation. Send requests 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding.
What if our favorite band is not free on our date?
Avalon recommends acts with a similar style and size, and you can watch their videos the same way before you decide.
